The Math Behind the Estimate
The calculator uses the standard metabolic equivalent (MET) formula:
Calories per km = (MET × body weight in kg) ÷ effective speed in km/h
One MET is roughly the energy you burn while sitting quietly, about 1 kcal per kilogram of body weight per hour. When you play squash at 7.3 MET, your body is working at 7.3 times its resting rate.
